Navy Awards Lockheed Martin LCS Contract To Preserve Shipyard Production

The Navy yesterday awarded Lockheed Martin [LMT] a modification to its previously awarded Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) contract for efforts necessary to preserve production capability at its industry team shipyard facility. The award of the funds, which the Navy did not disclose, comes amid ongoing negotiations for an FY '09 LCS contract. The Navy has been expected for some time to award both Lockheed Martin and the second team, led by General Dynamics [GD], one LCS each for FY '09.…
