The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has selected Leidos [LDOS], Lockheed Martin [LMT] and Raytheon [RTN] to help with the deployment of security equipment in three regions across the U.S. under a potential $450 million contract.
Under the five-year Transportation Security Equipment Services (TEDS) program contract, Lockheed Martin has responsibility for the West Region, Leidos the East Region, and Raytheon the Central Region.
The contract covers the deployment of all the agency’s security capabilities although the companies will primarily deploy checkpoint technologies for passenger screening and carry-on baggage, and checked baggage technologies for the screening of checked baggage.
The TEDS contract replaces the Security Equipment Systems Integration (SESI) contract, which was awarded in Aug. 2011 to Boeing [BA], L-3 Communications [LLL] and Lockheed Martin. That contract was worth a potential $483 million between the contractors.
Task orders under the SESI contract were competed among the three contractors and were not based on a regional system. Under TEDS, Leidos, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have exclusive responsibilities for their respective regions.
Lockheed Martin says that under TEDS it will perform all tasks associated with the deployment of security technology equipment at airports, ports, terminals, cargo facilities and other locations within the Western Region of the U.S.
“We have a strong history of providing critical security services and capabilities for the TSA and look forward to continuing this successful partnership,” says Scott Gray, vice president of IT & Security Solutions at Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions segment.
Lockheed Martin’s teammates for work under TEDS include Parsons, Beltmann Integrated Logistics, Faithful and Gould, K2 Consulting, Swanson Rink, Main Sail, CAGE, Cherokee Nation, DSCI, and Spider Integration Group.
TEDS supports TSA’s Office of Security Capabilities.
