Lawmakers Recommend $33.7 Billion For Shipbuilding, Naval Industrial Base Boost In Reconciliation Bill

The Republican heads of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees recommended the reconciliation bill include $33.7 billion in naval shipbuilding and industrial base funding through 2029. The committees’ joint overview said this reconciliation recommendation “invests in autonomous surface and subsurface technology [and builds] capacity and improves infrastructure in the maritime industrial base.” Shipbuilding highlights include $4.6 billion to fund a second FY 2027 Virginia-class attack submarine, $5.4 billion for two more Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, and $2.7 billion to procure…
