House Passes Homeland Security Bills

The House on Wednesday evening passed several homeland security related bills, including a measure requiring the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop a plan to gain operational control of the border. The Secure Borders Act of 2011 (H.R. 1299), requires the border operational control plan within five years and requires the plan to account for the personnel, technology and infrastructure to secure the border.
