Earnings Rise, Sales Fall At Northrop Grumman

Amid a constrained federal spending environment, Northrop Grumman [NOC], like its competitors, managed to turn in higher earnings yesterday by improving its operating performance and repurchasing its stock to lower its outstanding share count. Net income increased 5 percent to $520 million, $1.86 earnings per share (EPS), from $497 million ($1.67 EPS) a year ago. And like its competitors, the company’s earnings beat analyst expectations, which were $1.68 EPS. Sales declined 7 percent to $6.6 billion from $7.1 billion. Sales…
