DoD Awards Morphotek $2.3M to Develop Biowarfare Therapies

Morphotek, Inc., a subsidiary of Japanese pharmaceutical company Eisai Co., received $2.3 million in funding from the Department of Defense to support the development of biologic- based monoclonal antibody therapies against biowarfare agents. Under the nine-month contract Morphotek will continue developing the therapies to treat Botulinum neurotoxins. "The further development of these compounds will enable us to advance these leads into clinical studies for validation and registration," says Nicholas Nicolaides, president and CEO of Morphotek.
