DNDO Issues RFI for Advanced Radiation Monitoring Devices

The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the development of pager-sized gamma and neutron detection devices in anticipation of an Advanced Technology Demonstration in the area of Advanced Radiation Monitoring Devices. The agency is interested in the development of detection devices with new materials-- specifically a scintillator material (Sr12) and a semiconductor material (TIBr)--that offer significant improvements in sensitivity and energy resolution over more traditional materials.
