Cubic Corp. [CUB] says its Global Tracking Solutions division has joined the DASH7 Alliance, a non-profit consortium aimed at advancing the use of wireless sensor technologies by developing extensions to the ISO 18000-7 standard for active radio frequency identification, ensuring interoperability among devices. Cubic’s asset tracking, monitoring and security solution is Global Sentinel, which can be used with trucks, trailers, containers or pallets. The system can also monitor other variables such as temperature, humidity, shock, acceleration, motion, light and radiation. Separately, Cubic Global Tracking Solutions has introduced a next-generation intelligent tracking solution for military logistics professionals. The “least cost routing” methodology selects the most cost-effective transmission link for data routing–wireless mesh networking, active RFID, cellular or global two-way coverage using the Iridium satellite constellation–to provide real-time asset tracking worldwide. “Within two minutes from any point on earth, we can provide crucial information to our DoD and commercial customers to better manage their high value assets, all for a very low life-cycle price,” says Randall Shepard, senior vice president of Global Tracking Solutions.
