Lockheed Martin Gets $63M to Supply C-130J to Coast Guard

The Air Force in late December awarded Lockheed Martin [LMT] a $1 billion contract to supply 31 C-130J aircraft for the Air Force and Marine Corps and one for the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard transferred $62.6 million to the Air Force for the C-130J, which will be the 12th Super Hercules aircraft for the service and is slated for delivery in 2019. L-3 Communications [LLL] will be responsible for missionizing the Coast Guard’s C-130J under a separate contract. Under the Air Force’s contract with Lockheed Martin, the Coast Guard has options to acquire up to four more C-130Js. The Coast Guard currently operates six C-130Js as part of its long-range surveillance aircraft fleet.

USCIS Awards SAIC Potential $21M Extension for IT Services

Science Applications International Corp. [SAIC] has received a potential four-month, $20.7 million extension from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for Secure Enterprise Technology Infrastructure (SETI) services. The agency says the extension for the incumbent contractor is needed to allow for the competitive award to, and transition in of, a successor contractor. The award has a two-month base period and two one-month options. The services required include professional information technology (IT) technical and program management support. The award was made under the EAGLE II contract and will allow time to complete the acquisition of the Support for Platform Engineering and DevOps Integration (SPEDI) requirement, which will replace the SETI requirement. The SPEDI award is planned for Feb. 28.

ManTech Receives $16M CBP Award to Support Technology Acquisition Office

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has awarded ManTech [MANT] a potential seven-month $16.4 million to continue providing services to the Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition (OTIA) for ongoing acquisition programs, in particular the Remote Video Surveillance Systems and the Integrated Fixed Towers. If all options are exercised the extension would run through July. The extension also gives time for a transition to a new contractor, which is Macaulay Brown. MacB won the contract in Sept. 2016 but a subsequent protest has delayed the award. The Government Accountability Office is expected to make a decision on the protest in mid-February.

DHS S&T Awards BAH Potential $2M for Continued Support to First Responders

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has awarded Booz Allen Hamilton [BAH] a potential $2.3 million modification to an existing task order to provide on-site assistance to the First Responder Group. The support includes program and technical management, program planning and oversight, financial management, and technical website administration functions across the broad scope of first responder activities. The options extend the work for up to six months through the end of June. The extension brings the potential value of the current task order to $5 million and gives DHS time to resolve an alleged procurement integrity violation, and if necessary complete a competitive award for these services, the department says in a FedBizOpps.gov posting.

RMD, CapeSym Receive DNDO SBIR Awards

The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) has awarded Radiation Monitoring Devices (RMD) and CapeSym Inc. a combined $540,000 in work under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. RMD received $300,000 in SBIR Phase III for research and development of a thallium bromide (TIBR) gamma ray detector. The contract has a three-month $100,000 base and a one-year $200,000 option. In Phase III RMD will complete final integration of previously developed design modules for successful transition to a prototype TIBR-based gamma ray detector. RMD is part of Dynasil [DYSL]. In its $240,000 Phase III contract, CapeSym will research and develop high purity precursor materials for growth of large single crystals of strontium iodide scintillators (SrIS) and CLYC detectors. The award will enable CapeSym to complete late stage development of the project in preparation for transition into a commercial product. CapeSym’s award has a six-month $100,000 base period and six-month $140,000 option.
