CBP Working With FAA To Loosen Restrictions On UAV Coastal Operations, Official Says

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has conducted limited operations with its Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) off the United States coastline but air safety restrictions have limited these flights, an agency official told a House panel yesterday. CBP is working with the Federal Aviation Administration so that it can better employ its Guardian UAV system in offshore operations, Randolph Alles, assistant commissioner for Air and Marine Operations, told the House Homeland Security Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee.
