CBO Estimates 2025 Shipbuilding Plan Costs 17 Percent More Than Navy Projects

The Navy’s latest 30-year shipbuilding plan could cost 17 percent more than the service estimates, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) annual analysis. This means the CBO estimated the 2025 plan will cost on average $40 billion per year , which is about 46 percent more annually than the $27.5 billion Congress has appropriated on average annually over the last five years.
