Bertholf To Get Underway This Month

By Calvin Biesecker As expected, the Coast Guard yesterday conducted its preliminary acceptance of its first National Security Cutter, the 418-foot CGC Bertholf, and plans later this month to begin a one-week set of exercises and training in the Gulf of Mexico as part of the process that will lead to final acceptance in about one year. All told, it is expected to take about 22 months for the Bertholf's crew to run its new vessel through a lengthy series…
