The Army is looking to divest $4.9 billion of older and “ineffective” equipment in fiscal year 2026, according to new budget documents, as well as spending $8.9 billion on efforts related to its new wide-ranging transformation plan. “It’s a deliberate invest to divest [strategy],” a senior Army official said during a budget briefing on Thursday. “We made some tough choices to shed outdated systems that no longer meet our demands of the modern battlefield.” The new Army Transformation Initiative (ATI)…
