Air Force to Award Initial F-15EX Engine Contract to GE, Considering Open Competition for Next Lots

The Air Force may look to industry to provide future engines for the F-15EX fighter jet after sole-sourcing the initial aircraft lot to GE Aviation [GE], the service said May 21. A solicitation released May 15 showed the Air Force is conducting market research for companies capable of providing up to 461 engines for the Boeing [BA]-built F-15EX beginning in June 2023 and ending around May 2030.
