A government commission asked Congress to require the Department of Defense to identify the country of origin of every weapons system component. The recommendation, in an annual 300-plus-pages report of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission that was submitted to Congress recently, was accompanied by a warning against having defense contractors use Chinese-made components in defense hardware, criticizing outsourcing of U.S. jobs.
