Suspect Detection System’s Interrogation System Used to Screen Aviation Employees

Suspect Detection Systems Inc. (SDSS) says its Cogito hostile intent detection system has been used to screen several thousand aviation employees of an American airline in Latin America. The Cogito system, which combines audiovisual elements, customized interrogation methods, and algorithms to analyze outputs of a potential suspect’s nervous system, was used by a private company specializing in airport security. The interrogations took place in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina and smaller countries in Central America. The system was used to determine whether any of the employees harbored criminal intent to aid in or commit an act of terror. “Cogito has become an integral part of the security chain for airlines operating flights from Latin America to the United States,” says Gil Boosidian, CEO of SDSS. “The successful implementation of this screening procedure provides us with opportunities for our proprietary Cogito threat detection system to be used to screen airport employees on multiple continents.”

UAV Demonstrated for Texas Officials

Vanguard Defense Industries last month demonstrated its ShadowHawk unmanned aerial vehicle at the Laredo, Texas, Fire and Public Safety International Training Facility with Laredo Mayor Raul Salinas and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) in attendance. “In this era of rapidly-evolving technology, it is important that government, law enforcement and first responders make it a priority to stay aware of all tools available to them in order to ensure that they remain on the cutting edge,” Cuellar says. “Unmanned aerial vehicles are an efficient and effective way for our emergency responders to leverage limited resources and manpower.” Vanguard makes several variants of the ShadowHawk. The Sheriff Dept. in Montgomery County, Texas, currently uses a ShadowHawk. The aircraft is equipped with forward looking infrared cameras and can stream video to an incident commander or fire station. Texas Dept. Adds Real-Time Surveillance Capabilities to Pilatus Surveillance Plane

The Texas Department of Public Safety has selected Helinet Technologies to develop and implement a microwave downlink and satellite solution for the agency’s recently acquired Pilatus PC-12 NG Spectre high-altitude surveillance plane. The new system enables the aircraft to transmit real-time surveillance images and data to fixed and portable receive sites around the state and augments the agency’s existing helicopter-based video downlink capability deployed earlier this year. The system can provide a continuous, live feed to ground personnel even if the primary microwave receive sites have been disabled. Missions supported include pursuits, search and rescue, disaster response, felony manhunts, aerial surveillance, domestic marijuana eradication, and border security operations.
