Senate To Face Sundry Defense Bill Amends Next Week

The Senate will face more than 200 amendments to the defense policy bill, including one curtailing cost-type Pentagon contracts, when it restarts debate on the measure next week. The chamber took up the fiscal year 2012 defense authorization bill late last week, with much floor time on Thursday and Friday spent debating detainee-related provisions that spurred a veto threat from President Barack Obama.
