The Navy last month awarded Northrop Grumman [NOC] a $32.9 million contract for the second year of low rate initial production (LRIP) of the company's Fire Scout vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (VTUAV). The contract is for procurement of three LRIP vehicle units. This is the second of three LRIP awards anticipated for Fire Scout. Work is expected to be completed in October 2009.
