New French Frigate Successfully Fires First Missiles

The French frigate Aquitaine, the first unit in a multi-mission frigate program (FREMM), successfully fired its first two missiles earlier in May, the French Ministry of Defense said on May 20.The Aquitaine fired an Exocet MM40 surface-to-surface missile on May 12 and a naval cruise missile on May 19 at the Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA, French research and development service in the ministry) missile testing center firing ranges off of Levant Island.This was the first time a European surface…
