MDA Investigating Low-Cost Interceptor Concepts, Envisions Two-Year Sprints

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) last week published a notice that it was conducting market research to find innovative missile defense system technologies, architectures, and concepts to help develop low-cost interceptors or systems. According to an Oct. 10 Request for Information (RFI), MDA specifically said it is “investigating technologies, concepts and spiral developed prototypes to dramatically decrease cost per kill.”  This covers hit-to-kill, fragmentation and other proximity defeat mechanisms and can include both new ideas that can be adapted to…
