The House prepared to battle over the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter’s alternate engine yesterday, as members proposed amendments to the policy-setting defense authorization bill the chamber will start debating today. The Pentagon legislation for fiscal year 2012, which begins Oct. 1, includes two provisions that support the revival of the F136 engine, developed by General Electric [GE] and Rolls-Royce.
