House Passes Resolution Funding Border-Related DHS Components

The House yesterday voted 249 to 175 in favor of a resolution to continue funding certain components of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that deal with border security. The Border Safety & Security Act (H.J. Res. 79) would appropriate $18.8 billion in funding for Customs and Border Protection, which includes the Border Patrol, the Coast Guard, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Office of Biometric Identity Management, which manages the DHS biometric database called IDENT.
