GD Nabs Navy MEDUSA Mining Contract

The Navy recently awarded General Dynamics’ Mission Systems [GD] a contract worth up to $58 million for a new submarine-launched unmanned minelayer. The original solicitation or the program said the Program Executive Office for Unmanned and Small Combatants (PEO USC), Unmanned Maritime Systems Program Office (PMS 406) is developing the Mining Expendable Delivery Unmanned Submarine Asset (MEDUSA) to address the need for an “advanced maritime mining system with long range offensive mining capabilities.” The initial Sept. 27 contract covers about…
