Computer Sciences Corp. [CSC] last Thursday said it has acquired Log.Sec Corp., a fast growing private firm that provides information technology (IT) and logistics engineering services, in a deal that strengthens the company’s solutions offerings and its positioning in defense markets.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. CSC said the deal would be accretive to earnings in the first year.

Log.Sec, which is based in Northern Virginia, is the largest IT services provider at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), with about 385 employees concentrated there and at Fort Monmouth, N.J. Log.Sec provides specialized logistics services such life-cycle, acquisition and sustainment services, and test support services. The company serves a range of Army customers in addition to APG, including the Communications-Electronics Command, the Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, the Directorate for Information Management, the Intelligence and Security Command and more. Log.Sec also is a teammate to a number of prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin [LMT], Northrop Grumman [NOC] and ManTech International [MANT].

Earlier this year Log.Sec was named to Inc.com‘s list of 5,000 fasted growing private companies in the United States.

“The Log.Sec acquisition reinforces our growth strategy of acquiring select companies that complement our three-pronged strategy of growing our core business, investing in high-growth market segments and pursuing select state business,” James Sheaffer, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector, said in a statement. “With BRAC (Base Realignment And Closure) activities expected to increase the amount, nature and scope of work of the Aberdeen Test Center, CSC is ideally positioned for new contracting opportunities.”

Log.Sec will be part of CSC’s Defense Division.
