Cassidian Develops Electronic Defense Against Laser-Guided Weapons

The European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co (EADS) defense and security division Cassidian yesterday said it developed an electronic defense system which, for the first time, will provide vehicles, ships and helicopters with reliable protection against laser-guided weapons. "The threat from lasers to armed forces on a mission is continuing to increase, because weapons such as laser-guided missiles or sniper rifles with laser targeting optics are widespread," said Elmar Compans, head of the Sensors & Electronic Warfare unit at Cassidian.…
