This modular system provides the user, whether a sniper observer or forward observer, with a host of system configurations to meet weight and portability budget and the choice of manual, magnetic, celestial and gyroscopic north finding options for targeting. The Recon B2-FO is a handheld, sniper and forward-observer targeting sensor that is equipped with a medium-wave infrared (MWIR) thermal camera, a day-camera, laser rangefinder (LRF), GPS and digital magnetic compass.

Many new features have been added to the Recon B2-FO unit including the ability to share imagery with a FLIR Systems thermal sniper scope.

“This order represents our commitment to identifying threats through usage of our long-range thermal handheld sensors,” said Bill Sundermeier, president of FLIR Government Systems. “Our proven ability to provide state-of-the-art imaging technologies that are critical to detect, recognize and identify threats are developed on a commercial basis, resulting in lightweight, lower cost and reduced delivery time for our customers.”
