With more than 30 years of expertise in the space industry as an engineer, program manager, and general manager, Cleave was responsible for a $1 billion line of business as well as P&L budget management. “We are commencing flight operations in 2019 and it is critical our Chief Revenue Officer understands what it takes to further establish this company as a leader in the small satellite launch industry,” said Jim Cantrell, CEO and co-founder of Vector. “The experience Robert brings to our team will be instrumental in achieving not only our revenue goals, but our larger business objectives as well, and we’re thrilled to have him onboard.”

Prior to joining Vector, Cleave founded the world’s first company to commercialize X-band frequencies (XTAR, LLC) and was recruited by Lockheed Martin to manage business development activities for the multi-billion dollar organization, subsequently becoming its president of commercial launch services and vice president of its commercial satellite business unit.  At Vector, Cleave will leverage his M&A experience to help shape the company’s market position and support Vector’s efforts to engage with like-minded organizations across the space industry. Cleave will drive additional revenue for Vector as CRO by promoting customer advocacy and supporting a customer-centric product development approach both for launches and GalacticSky.

“Vector is at a critical inflection point in its growth where it is evolving to accommodate an overwhelming demand for space access,” said Robert Cleave, CRO at Vector. “Now more than ever Vector has the opportunity to capitalize on the market’s appetite for dedicated launches and I’m eager to build out Vector’s customer portfolio, not only for our launch manifest but also for the transformative GalacticSky platform.”

The addition of Cleave to Vector’s business development and sales department comes on the heels of the company’s recent $70 million Series B funding, which directly contributed to the expansion of this team, its production facilities and furthering the development of GalacticSky. The expansion of Vector’s business development, sales and marketing department will play an important part as the company zeroes in on its first orbital attempt from the Pacific Spaceport Complex-Alaska this year.
