Northrop Grumman Lays Off 380 Salaried Employees At Newport News

Northrop Grumman [NOC] on Friday said it has laid off 380 salaried employees at its shipyard in Newport News, Va., due to the completion of major milestones on existing contracts, in particular the CVN-78 Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier design. The workforce reduction is the first at Newport News in more than 10 years. The company said that of the 380 employees, 100 have prior trade experience and have been offered hourly jobs in positions such as welders and electricians.…
