Ducommun Inc. [DCO] this week said it has agreed to acquire BLR Aerospace

, a developer and manufacturer of airframe components that improve aerodynamics, safety and efficiency on rotary- and fixed-wing commercial and military aircraft.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

BLR, which is based in Washington, provides strakes, winglets, props, LED lighting and vortex generators to its original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket customers. Ducommun said the deal gives it additional proprietary engineered products.

“This is a first step in our commitment made during Ducommun’s investor day last December to increase the amount of engineered products and aftermarket in our revenues,” Stephen Oswald, Ducommun’s chairman, president and CEO, said in a statement. “BLR is an absolute industry leader in providing engineered products and aftermarket services to rotorcraft, fixed-wing business aviation OEM customers and fleet operators worldwide and their team will only strengthen our position. The other exciting aspect of BLR is that they are contributing to the advancement of both the commercial aviation and defense industries through innovation and that is in line with our company’s vision.”

Ducommun provides electronic and structural systems for commercial aircraft, military and space programs.

Ducommun’s financial adviser on the deal is B. Riley Securities and Houlihan Lokey is advising BLR.
