Conferenced Authorization Bill Allows Use Of Contracted Russian Engines In Launches

The conferenced fiscal year 2015 defense authorization bill released Dec. 2 protects the use of Russian rocket engines procured before Feb. 1 in national security space launches. The bill contains a number of significant space related provisions, with the most important being the clarification of language from the Senate Armed Services Committee’s (SASC) bill that prevented the defense secretary from entering into, or renewing, a contract for the procurement of property or services from any person who purchases critical launch…
