The Sentinel-class cutter Paul Clark will provide support operations in the Seventh Coast Guard District, which comprises 1.8 million nautical miles of ocean ranging from the South Carolina coast to the Caribbean.

Commissioning of the Clark follows the recent delivery of the seventh FRC, Charles David Jr., by shipbuilder Bollinger Shipyards. The David is the first of six FRCs to be home ported in Key West, Fla., also in support of the Seventh Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard has ordered 18 FRCs from Bollinger and eventually plans to buy 58 of the 154-foot vessels.
