CBP Oversight of Contractor Maintenance on NII Systems Lacking, IG Says

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has failed to properly oversee that its contractors perform maintenance on systems used to screen cargo and conveyances for threats and contraband, potentially limited the usefulness of the scanning systems, the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General (IG) says in a new report.“CBP’s current equipment maintenance process begins and ends with support or service contractors performing various tasks,” the IG says. “However, CBP does not perform any independent assessments of the service contractors’ performance or…
