Air Force Cancels C-17 Engine Sustainment Competition

The Air Force said yesterday it canceled a competitive solicitation to overhaul the F117 engines on C-17 cargo jets. Air Force spokesman Ed Gulick said in a statement the service issued the solicitation based on market research into industry capabilities to provide both engine overhaul and supply chain management and that it anticipated significant savings and preferred terms and conditions to be derived from the competition, which began in March.
