Services’ Budgets Squeezed By Oil Spikes

Military leaders said yesterday their budgets are being squeezed by the volatility of fossil-fuel prices. Senate Armed Services Readiness and Management Support subcommittee Chairwoman Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) noted to the military service vice chiefs how spikes in the cost of oil have created unexpected jumps in their already-tight budgets and impacted their readiness.
