Most recently, Williamson served as deputy commanding general, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom.

Williamson has served in the ASALT office before. In March 2013, as a one-star general, he was appointed as major general to serve as assistant deputy for acquisition and systems management.

He is also very familiar with one of the Army’s top priorities: the network. He served as the Joint Program Executive Officer-Joint Tactical Radio Systems and oversaw the reorganization of the office to the Joint Tactical Networking Center. He also spent time at the Network Integration Evaluations where radios were tested by soldiers in real-world scenarios. The Army acquisition executive served as the lead acquisition executive for the Joint Tactical Networking Center.
