
The White House and congressional leaders have reached a two-year budget deal that boosts defense and non-defense spending caps, but allots about $5 billion less to the Pentagon than the budgets put forward by the Obama administration and congressional GOP.If passed, the legislation will prevent a government shutdown in December and release the Defense Department from the possibility of a yearlong continuing resolution that department and service leaders warned would cripple new programs and prevent existing ones from ramping up.…
