Navy Commissions Latest Virginia-class Sub

The Navy commissioned the ninth Virginia-class (SSN-774) submarine during a ceremony over the weekend at the Port of Pascagoula, Miss. The USS Mississippi (SSN-782) joined the fleet after being delivered to the Navy nearly one year early and under budget, the service said. "It took just over 62 months to build Mississippi which sets a record for the Virginia-class program and is a testament to the skill and dedication of the shipbuilders," Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said at the ceremony.
