House To Unveil Two-Week Budget That Faces Senate Opposition

By Emelie Rutherford House Republicans are expected to file today a two-week continuing resolution that would further extend the Pentagon's budget near last year's levels until late March. The measure is intended to prevent a government shutdown after the current CR expires March 4. If passed it would further delay the Defense Department's ability to start new contracts planned for fiscal year 2011, which started last Oct. 1, until a full-blown defense appropriations bill is passed.
