GlobalWatt Inc., a manufacturer of solar applications for specialty markets, and Silver Eagle Manufacturing Co., a global leader in military trailer manufacturing, yesterday said they have formed a partnership agreement to integrate GlobalWatt’s mobile solar system onto Silver Eagle’s Defense and Homeland Security-qualified transport systems.
Under the agreement, GlobalWatt will offer retrofit solar sub-systems to be integrated onto Silver Eagle trailers supplied to the National Guard and Defense Department.
Silver Eagle will private-label these solar products, including GlobalWatt’s stowaway “The Avanti (4kw)” solar system.
The two companies will also partner in the design and engineering of GlobalWatt’s “Sun Pad” product line, a single-axis-tracking 5kw modular unit mounted on a transportable and scalable platform.
“This partnership is truly an immediate all-win agreement because it expands Silver Eagle product offerings to address the growing solar needs of the National Guard and the Department of Defense,” said Jay Wilson, Silver Eagle president and CEO. “Silver Eagle’s 75 years of manufacturing experience provides a rugged and defense-qualified transport system, which is critical to the rapid deployment of GlobalWatt’s Mobile Solar Systems.
President and CEO of GlobalWatt Sanjeev Chitre said, “We are fortunate to have Silver Eagle Manufacturing as our mobile platform provider for our Avanti products. Silver Eagle is well-entrenched in the defense marketplace and their products meet the needs of both the National Guard and the Department of Defense. This agreement capitalizes both companies’ strengths and creates impressive business opportunities.”
Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., GlobalWatt has solar production operations in Saginaw, Mich. Silver Eagle’s manufacturing operations are in Portland, Ore.
“Both companies are expected to benefit significantly from the growth of the mobile power markets they will jointly serve including the large emerging markets for the Sun Pad,” said Roger Burrows, managing partner at Venture Management Services LLC, which enabled this relationship.
