GE’s StreetLab Mobile Soon to Be Equipped with Bio Detection

General Electric's [GE] StreetLab Mobile device, which was introduced last spring, will soon have the capability to identify biological substances. The handheld device is already capable of identifying chemical substances (TR2, April 30). The bio detection capability will be available in the fourth quarter of 2008. The chemical only version released earlier this year can be upgraded to the dual-mode capability. The unit list price for the dual-mode version is about $45,000.
