The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) is seeking information on the availability of software and hardware associated with Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) for classifying humans from animals. UGS sensors currently used for border security employ seismic, non-imaging passive infrared, acoustic, or magnetic sensors. While these sensors can detect people walking illegally across the border, they can also be triggered by medium to large size animals such as deer, burro, moose, livestock and others.
