Boeing [BA] has agreed to acquire eXMeritus, a small Northern Virginia-based firm that provides hardware and software that allows users to share information securely across classified and unclassified networks and systems. The deal is part of Boeing’s acquisition of small companies in targeted growth areas, in this case cyber security. eXMeritus’ main product is HardwareWall, a secure data transfer system that “meets and exceeds all mission and information assurance requirements for the world’s highest level security directives,” the company says. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Boeing expects to close the deal this month. eXMeritus has fewer than 30 employees. The pending acquisition follows two others last year by Boeing with cyber security plays that the company did not announce. One was for Ravenwing and the other for Kestrel Enterprises, Inc.
