Navy Awards Contract For Second LHA Amphibious Ship

The Navy awarded a $2.38 billion contract yesterday for the construction of the second vessel in the America-class (LHA-6) of amphibious assault ships. The fixed-price and incentive contract for the large-deck amphibious assault ship was awarded to Huntington Ingalls Industries [HII] and it will be built at its Pascagoula, Miss., yard, the Pentagon said.
