The eventual deployment of Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) and other platforms to the Middle East will allow the Navy to shift larger surface combatants to the Asia-Pacific region without diminishing the capabilities of the fleet in the Persian Gulf, Chief of Naval Operations Adm.
