TSA Awards JV $29M to Provide Screening Service at Montana Airports
Comprehensive Security Services, Inc., and FirstLine Transportation Security, Inc.
, a joint venture, has received a potential five-year, 28.6 million contract from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide private security services at four airports in Montana. The contract was awarded through the Screening Partnership Program (SPP) and covers checkpoint and checked baggage screening at Bert Mooney, Bozeman Yellowstone International, Glacier Park International and Yellowstone Airports. The contract began June 1. There are now 18 airports participating in the SPP program, nine of which are in Montana. The SPP program enables operators at the nation’s airports to opt-out from using federal screeners in favor of contract personnel.
Elbit Receives $133M Homeland Security Award from Latin American Customer
Elbit Systems [ESLT] says it has received a one-year $133 million contract from an undisclosed customer in Latin America to provide integrated systems for homeland security applications. The specific systems were not identified. Elbit says the systems include command, control and intelligence capabilities to be operated via dedicated control centers meant to play a major role in fighting crime, preventing violence and improving citizens’ safety and security. “This award is another significant milestone for Elbit Systems in the homeland security field, in which we are witnessing a growing demand worldwide,” says Bezhalel Machlis, Elbit’s president and CEO.
State Department Awards CGI Potential $38M Visa Services Contract
CGI Group’s [GIB] U.S.-based division has received a potential $37.5 million task order from the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs for visa services in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Venezuela. The task order has a one year base value of $4.3 million and is worth between $29.6 million and $37.5 million over five years, depending on options awarded and whether additional requirements are added. The initial objective is to launch a Global Support Strategy for visa services in Cuba, Haiti and Venezuela. The second objective the launch of a regional GSS program for the Dominican Republic. The third objective is to provide information, appointment, fee collection, documentation delivery, greeter, and offsite biometric collection services for the Dominican Republic. The final objective is to provide all these services, minus the biometric collection, for the other three countries. CGI beat CSC Corp. [CSC] for the task order.
Leidos Nabs $58M in DHS, DTRA Awards
Leidos [LDOS] has received a potential five-year, $12 million contract from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology branch to support the Agricultural Scientific Program at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center. Leidos will provide planning, program management support and oversight for the development of vaccines, diagnostics and other countermeasures to mitigate the impact of foreign animal diseases. Leidos says the work is a continuation its support to S&T to protect U.S. livestock from foreign animal diseases. Separately, the company has been selected to compete for work under a potential five-year $46 million task order by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency to develop modeling methodology and technology to combat weapons of mass destruction. The task order was warded under the Target Assessment Technologies Office.
Magal Nabs $5M to Secure Utility Site in Mexico
Magal Security Systems [MAGS] has received a $4.5 million contract to supply a complete perimeter security system for a main power distribution center in Mexico. Magal’s solution includes a DTR taut wire system and a surveillance system, fully integrated by its physical security information management platform, Fortis4G. Magal says that prior to recent elections in Mexico orders paused but with the new award the company believes it marks a resurgence of business in the region.
HII Awards Lockheed Martin $69M Subcontract for C4ISR aboard NSC 7
Lockheed Martin [LMT] has received a $69 million subcontract from shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries [HII] to provide C4ISR capabilities for the seventh Coast Guard National Security Cutter, the USCGC Kimball. Lockheed Martin is the C4ISR supplier for all NSC vessels.
DHS Awards APPS Potential $64M for Security Guard Services
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Protective Service has awarded Maryland-based small business APPS a potential five-year, $64.3 million contract for protective security officer services at the Center for Medicaid in Woodlawn, Md. Security services will include access control to facility entrances and exits, employee and visitor identification checks, monitoring security equipment, and roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal facilities.
TSA Awards L-3 $3M for EDS Integration
L-3 Communications [LLL] has received a $3.1 million task order from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide integration services and equipment related to 18 eXaminer 6700 medium-speed explosive detection systems (EDS) at Boston Logan International Airport. The task order is part of the EDS recapitalization effort at Logan because existing medium-speed EDS have reached the end of their useful life. TSA says the new EDS equipment provides greater detection capability than the legacy systems.
