SAC HS Boosts Funding For DHS, Adds Four Fast Response Cutters

The Senate Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee (SAC HS) on Tuesday unanimously approved its version of the FY ’15 spending bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), providing $47.2 billion overall and $45.7 billion in discretionary funding. Excluding $6.4 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Disaster Relief Fund and $213 million for Coast Guard overseas contingency operations, the discretionary appropriation is $39 billion, $200 million below the recommendation of House appropriators and $688 million more than requested by the…
