Russia Forms Air Defense Pact With Belarus

Russia and Belarus will form an air defense system, under an agreement they signed, Itar-Tass reported. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev praised the planned system as increasing security of both countries. Upgraded radar control of airspace will be provided in several areas, such as the western boundary of the Union State from the Baltic countries to Ukraine, with five aviation units, ten air defense units, five radio-technical units and one electronic warfare unit.
