The Senate Armed Services Committee on April 24 approved President Trump’s nominees to head U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) and U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM).
The committee endorsed Navy Adm. Philip Davidson to be PACOM’s commander and Air Force Gen. Terrence O’Shaughnessy to be commander of NORTHCOM and the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
The voice vote came a week after the committee held a confirmation hearing on the nominations. The nominations now head to the full Senate for its consideration.
Davidson, who is currently commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, would replace Navy Adm. Harry Harris, who has been nominated to be ambassador to Australia.
O’Shaughnessy, who currently leads Pacific Air Forces, would succeed Air Force Gen. Lori Robinson, who is retiring.
