FLIR Nabs Small DTRA Award to Further Develop Stand-off Rad Detection System

The Pentagon's Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has awarded FLIR Systems, Inc. [FLIR] a $1.1 million contract for phase two of a multi-year, research and development effort for a mobile, ruggedized stand-off radiation detection system with identification capabilities. In phase one, which lasted one year and ended in May 2010, FLIR developed and built prototypes of a micro-electronic voxel spectrometer, which are part of a larger stand-off detection system called iFind.
