Saab Aeronautics Selects DiSTI’s VE Studio Platform for Virtual Training Development

Leading manufacturer of innovative airborne systems will develop maintenance training applications for the Gripen E multi-role fighter aircraft

PR Newswire

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The DiSTI Corporation, the world’s leading provider of 3D virtual training solutions, announces that Saab Aeronautics, a leading manufacturer of innovative airborne systems has selected VE Studio to build a best in class virtual maintenance trainer (VMT) for the company’s Gripen E aircraft. This selection is the result of a multi-year evaluation process where Saab evaluated numerous technology platforms and development methodologies. Saab selected VE Studio on the basis that it will enable them to create and manage immersive virtual training faster than other methods while reducing their development costs significantly.

According to Markus Jellinek of Saab Aeronautics “Our selection was based on VE Studio’s ability to enable Saab to develop a virtual maintenance training solution using our existing staff, many of who are not software developers. Because VE Studio is an end-to-end training development platform that uses a proven database driven approach and automated tools we are able to train our staff to use the platform to develop the VMT for the Gripen E. This will provide us with complete control during the initial development of the VMT as well as through the lifecyle of the aircraft where we can expect numerous changes and new capabilities. With VE Studio we can rapidly make changes to the VMT without having to redevelop the software code base. This will save us significant time and expense while providing flexibility to adapt to changes in the aircraft as well as to incorporate new technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. In addition DiSTI’s flexible licensing model enables us to easily scale up or down as our program requires and control our costs further.”

“Saab Aeronautics is a long time customer and currently uses our GL Studio HMI tool for development of flight simulators. We are pleased that they have also selected VE Studio for Unity to develop the new Gripen E Virtual Maintenance Trainer. Over the past 15 years DiSTI has developed virtual training solutions for leading Aerospace and Defense organizations and through that experience has developed processes and technologies that have been incorporated into VE Studio, a commercial-off-the-shelf virtual training development platform for desktop, mobile, AR and VR applications. Saab can now take advantage of that technology and processes and develop their own virtual maintenance training using VE Studio at a fraction of the time and cost using traditional manual development processes”. – John Cunningham, Chief Revenue Officer, DiSTI.
